Toshiba R830 FN key not working

January 30, 2013

When troubleshooting a problem on a Toshiba R830 I used msconfig to prevent startup items from loading. When I was finished troubleshooting I switched back on the startup items but found that FN key no longer worked even after rebooting. This prevented me from switching on the wireless network.

Tried repairing the Toshiba Value Added Package but no joy.

The Flash Cards Utility controls the FN key. So I navigated to:

C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\FlashCards

and launched the TCrdMain.exe file.

This resolved the problem, FN key works again.

Thank you for this simple fix. User had done exactly the same as you.
I’d assumed Flash Cards referred to SD & MicroSD card etc, so ruled out this fix initially.
